Update on Tom Pauley

Many of you know Tom Pauley of www.RichDreams.com.  On Saturday, March 28,  Tom had a series of seven strokes, the last of which was quite serious.  For a couple of days it was touch and go.  He spent three days in Intensive Care, and a month in rehab.

Ten days ago, Tom returned home.  Since then he has been steadily gaining ground.  He’s still having physical therapy to strengthen his right side, but happily, he’s as sharp as ever, and has even been doing some writing about his experience.  He feels incredibly grateful to be alive, and to have so many people sending him prayers and positive energy.

Tom, his wife, Diane, and I have been friends and extended family for many years.  (In fact, I knew his co-author – daughter Penelope – as a rambunctious toddler!)  For the past two weeks, I’ve been staying here in Southern California with Tom and Diane, helping with practical tasks as well as pitching in with their very active Internet business.

Of course, I’ve also been working on my own business, and even got into the studios of WS Radio to record four installments of my new radio show.  A couple of times, I’ve made it to the beach for some meditation and long walks.  (Historically, some of my best business ideas have taken shape on the sand at Laguna Beach.)

Tomorrow I’m flying home to Austin.  It will be hard to say goodbye to my friends, but I’m definitely homesick and ready to sleep in my own bed.  My husband and I have a rule that we’re never apart more than two weeks (something we decided a few years ago when I spent a month traveling in Mexico with our college-age kids).  And I’m getting regular calls now from all the kids and grandkids, saying they miss me and are ready to have me home.

One thing Tom and I both believe and teach is that we are all connected.  I’m connected within my own beautiful little circle to my immediate family, and I’m connected to my close friends.  I’m connected to you, and also to people I’ve never met, who’ve never read the things I write.

Our lives are richer when the love we have spills out beyond our small circles, and touches the people a bit further afield. I believe that if we remain conscious of our oneness, and remain as much as possible in a space of unconditional love, our individual lives get better, and the world becomes a safer, more welcoming place for all of us.

If you’d like to send Tom a message, you can do so at www.GetWellTom.wordpress.com.

I’ll have lots to do when I get home, including getting a new round of Grants Training Classes underway:

and of course, I’m also beginning a new session of my Internet Business Incubator 10-Week Personal Mentoring Program:

    Hi Jillian,
Thank you for your wonderful blog post.
I hope that Tom gets better very soon. – You are a wonderful friend.
You are 100% correct when you say that we are all connected, even if we live on the opposite sides of the world!
Have a great trip back to Austin.

Thanks, Saul! I was just thinking of you the other day, as I was wearing the colorful necklace you brought me at the conference. Hope all is well in Johannesburg. Jillian
